This project set out to examine our treatment of birds within urban settings, prompted by the prevalence of bird spikes observed throughout Bristol. To convey the implicit message behind these spikes—that birds are unwelcome in our urban environments—I chose to recreate them using text.
Opting for the blunt and provocative phrase “Piss Off,” I aimed to encapsulate the underlying sentiment. This was another short brief as I gave myself 1 week to complete and photograph my bird spikes. The outcome includes two A2 posters.

Based on the saying “Birds of a feather, flock together”, this brief is intented to be a tribute to my flock, my family, the ones who share a passion for birds as much as myself. Throughout the years, my family have rescued an array of birds including our current parrot, Petey, who is a beloved member of our family. We all share a unique love for birds and we are known at home for all being a bit bird crazy.
This project sets out to explore why birds flock together. Printed on tracing paper, the silhoettes merge together to form a huge flock

A riso animation using content I collected from the sewing process of “Birds of a Feather: Family Threads”.
This is an initiative aimed at engaging university students, encouraging them to step beyond the boundaries of their campus or residence and immerse themselves in the enriching experience of birdwatching in urban settings. Birds, being readily accessible in urban environments, presented a unique opportunity for students to connect with nature.
